The Gathering’s Response to COVID-19

The Gathering is taking a number of actions to protect the health and well-being of our staff, volunteers, and participants and to control the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in accordance with the expert guidance of the CDC, local, and state public health authorities. Read below for an at-a-glance overview and, for additional details on how The Gathering is navigating through COVID-19 so we can all worship together safely.

What to Expect at The Gathering Meetings

The Gathering’s commitment to you is that we will continue to make proactive decisions that are grounded in transparency and science – for our staff, volunteers, and the areas we serve. Our dedicated safety team continues to closely monitor and adhere to guidance from local and national health authorities and will update our procedures as needed to adhere to the most effective health and safety standards. The Gathering is currently implementing the following procedures to keep us all safe:

  • Facial Coverings: The Gathering remains committed to meeting or exceeding all public health mandates, as it is our responsibility to protect everyone who attends our meetings. In alignment with the updated guidance from the CDC, The Gathering strongly recommends the use of facial coverings while attending meetings, regardless of vaccination status. Where mandated by local law or regulation, The Gathering will require attendees to wear masks while inside the tent.

  • Staff and Volunteer Precautions: The Gathering is also taking precautions for every staff member and volunteer that participates in meetings to protect them and attendees. Prior to beginning every meeting, all staff and volunteers complete a pre-check, including taking their temperature, to ensure they are ready and able to serve.

  • Social Distancing Protocols and Cleaning Measures: The Gathering is committed to caring for the health and well-being of everyone who attends our meetings. We also pledge to play a constructive role in supporting local health officials and government leaders. The Gathering will observe elevated cleaning and sanitizing protocols that meet or exceed public health guidelines and can help to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The Gathering meetings will provide restrooms with running water for frequent hand-washing, provide hand sanitizing stations throughout the meeting area, provide masks free of charge, and provide wristbands (see our code below) to help clearly indicate each attendee’s preferences in social distancing. Social distancing, meaning maintaining 6 feet of distance between individuals/families, is highly encouraged. The Gathering will also commit to frequent cleaning of high touch surface areas.
